C414 B-ULS

The C414 B-ULS is THE reference microphone for almost all comparative microphone tests and one of the most used condenser microphones in the world. It is the microphone of choice for miking up vocals, grand pianos, percussion, and any other sound sources with complex wave forms. A gold-sputtered 1-inch dual-diaphragm and Ultra Linear Series electronics combine to provide an extremely smooth frequency response.

AKG 451-B

The AKG 451-B with its airy sound, high overload limit and improved engineering details, makes the C451 B the success story of this this continuing legend. The roadworthy design around the handcrafted capsule and the low-noise preamp electronics ensure impressive results even under very harsh conditions. The best microphone for the most discerning applications with varying dynamic response.

GEFELL UM70

The events of World War II sent Georg Neumann and company packing from Berlin to the sleepy town of Gefell, a rolling green sprawl spared from the dire conflict just 200 miles southeast. An old textile mill was quickly repurposed for the continued production of Neumann’s line of condenser microphones ¬¬- a then¬ budding technology which, no, they did not invent. The Neumann company eventually moved most operations back to Berlin in 1948 after the war ended, but the Gefell factory maintained the machines, tooling, and processes to make, among other things, the famed M7 capsule.

Generally loved as a do-¬it-¬all utility microphone, the later-¬era Microtech Gefell MV692/UM70 is a staple in major recording studios around the world. A nod to the company’s modular designs of the 1940s-¬60s, the MV692’s solid¬state body accommodates several screw¬-on capsules. All are useful in their own way, but the MV692/UM70 combination (with M7 capsule, as in the five-¬figure-¬fetching Neumann U47 and M49) was the most popular, and is especially desirable due to its multi-¬pattern versatility and remarkably smooth tone. Does it sound like a U47? Of course not, but it doesn’t have to. Its inviting timbre, small physical footprint, and the ability to change character and application with different capsules gives this microphone a purpose and personality all its own.

AKG C-12

C414 B-XL II

This matched stereo pair is a highly sensitive and extremely low self noise microphone. It had five switchable polar patterns for placement and application flexibility; two-color LEDs provide quick visual indication of selected polar pattern and output overload; elastic capsule suspension greatly minimizes structurally-transmitted noise from chassis vibration; H85 professional shock mount/stand adapter, PF 80 external pop filter and W 414 X external windscreen.

A classic microphone with a distinctive timbre especially designed for recording of solo vocals and solo instruments.

With the introduction of the NeXt Generation C414 B-XL models, AKG sets new benchmarks for useful features, improved technical specifications, ease of use and available accessories. All of these improvements are answers to requests from ever-demanding recording studios, broadcast stations and concert engineers, but with the basic sonic character of the legendary C414 unaltered.
